Bioidentical hormone replacement
therapy (BHRT) is
a safe, effective approach to hormonal management.
Bioidentical
hormonal preparations are derived from plant sources which can be
easily modified to be
identical to human hormones. If you are dealing
with fatigue, poor memory or cognition, apathy, irritation-depression,
loss of sexual desire or function and/or other age related changes
bioidentical hormones can probably help you.
Bioidentical hormones are a treatment for both men and women.
Your treatment might
also include botanical, nutritional supplements, homeopathy, diet and
stress management; all of which can be very important components for
your hormonal health and wellbeing.
Hormonal Concerns
include but are
not limited to: Menopause,
hypothyroidism, fatigue,
menstrual related problems, PCOS, chronic health concerns (such as
fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, autoimmune
etc),
age related decline,
fatigue, loss of libido, endometriosis, postpartum depression…
Bioidentical
Hormone Replacement Therapy Treatment
The reason Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
is so safe and effective is because it works with your body.
Your body is familiar with bioidentical
hormones as they have an identical
structure to human hormones. Treatment starts with a thorough
history and physical. Whenever bioidentical hormones are used testing is performed to evaluate
hormonal standing. That Information is then used to
tailor a treatment plan that is best suited for the individual.

Bioidentical
Hormone Replacement Therapy is Safe and Effective
- A 2006 literature
review concluded that BHRT is "well tolerated, provides symptom relief,
and can address many of the health needs as well as the individual
preferences of menopausal and perimenopausal women" 138 medical
scientific references. Alter
Med Rev Volume 11, Number 3,
2006; 209-223
- Another review
(2009) assessed 200 studies and concluded that there was evidence to
suggest bioidentical hormones were safer and more effective than
synthetic hormones. Postgrad
Med 121 (1): 73–85.
Standard HRT
The above trend in safety is in contrast with at least some of conventional
synthetic and or equine based hormones. Such conventional hormones are not identical
to the body's natural hormones and have been shown to be unsafe for human use. The below studies identify some of the
risk of some hormonal prearations.
- 1991
Women’s Health Initiative study (WHI): 16,000
women. Used mainly prempro (hoarse urine derived estrogens)
and provera (synthetic progestins). Discontinued due to increased rates
of: Breast cancer (26%), heart attacks (29%), strokes (41%),
blood clots (100%), and Alzheimer’s or dementia (over
100%).
- Million
Women study from Britain: 1,000,000 women.
Found similar findings as the WHI across all sorts of HRT formulations
used and prescribed for British women.
